In 2005, Shabden Park Farm started a flock of free range hens.

The hens are a traditional breed which lay a good-sized brown egg with a rich yellow yolk.
They have an open area of around three acres in which to scratch around. This is surrounded by electric fencing to protect them from predators, primarily foxes.

We will soon be selling eggs from the farm, or they can be delivered as part of a larger order. Eggs are £1.30 per half dozen.

Christmas Goose

Traditional, free range, farm fresh goose for Christmas.
These traditional breed geese are reared from day old chicks in June and have an area of around two and a half acres to range. For most of their lives they graze this pasture, maturing naturally. Then at 5-6 months, they are given non-GM cereals when they are brought into the buildings at night while they continue to feed on grazing pasture during the day. This produces a slowly matured goose with no additives or growth promoters.

The oven ready geese will weigh between 4 and 6kg (8-13lbs approx.) and are priced at £10.50/kg. A deposit of £15 is required to secure your goose, and the balance will be collected on delivery. We begin taking orders for geese around November.
